Khun Korn Waterfall is around 30 kilometres outside Chiang Rai city, depending on which route you take. The easiest is to just head south out of town to the White Temple (AKA Wat Rong Khun) and turn right onto route 1208. From here the waterfall is signposted in English and it's not hard to find. The drive takes about 30-45 minutes.

From the small car parking area, the falls are a 1,400 metre hike through the mountains along a well defined pathway. You'll need to be fit but you certainly won't need any special gear to get there. Actually, the walk through the tropical forest is as much of a pleasure as seeing the waterfall itself. Huge bamboo forests, butterflies, flowers... the walk really is a delight.

This waterfall is by far the highest in Chiang Rai (and most well known) at 70 metres height and when you emerge from the trees to see the actual fall, it's quite impressive. Bathing is allowed and you should expect to get wet, as the fall creates a lot of spray.
